once upon a time a boy saw a girl.  he asked her to go get lime bars.  she said yes.  he was a viking and she was dutch.  but this didn’t stop them.  eventually they fell in love, got married, became the H’s, bought a house in the mountains and had a little dutch-viking hybrid.

then they decided that some sort of modern narritive of life in general [l.i.g], preferably in the digital format, may be in order.

(little dutch-viking hybrids tend to make these things necessary.)

so here is an attempt to capture l.i.g in all it’s wonderful, wild, blessed, busy, changing, challenging gusto.

Current Random Favorites...

Just a random assortment of things I am enjoying/excited about/encouraged by/make me smile....

Favorite eats....

Ok, seriously, how have I lived 25 years as a relatively adventurous and health-conscious eater and NEVER tasted the amazingness that is Almond Butter until last week?!  I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to peanut butter, it is THAT good.  Plus, it's low on the glycemic index, which means less chub for more yum :)

Favorite Listen...

If you have never listened to any music from Sovereign Grace, you are totally missing out.  The women's ministry at church is beginning a year long study on worship, and this prompted me to seek out some new worship music (only one aspect of worship, I know) to accompany my study.  I read some great reviews of this CD, liked the previews and decided to buy it iTunes.  Oh my goodness, I am so glad I did!  The lyrics are rich, thoughtful and theological - and the melodies definitely hummable.  Track number 4 is my current favorite and set on repeat on my iPod.  Buy "Sons and Daughters" by Sovereign Grace Music here!

Favorite Aida Things...

Finally!  Disney is coming out with another old-school fairy tale princess movie - Tangled!  I loved the Disney princess movies growing up, so I am pumped that Aida will have some to enjoy as well.  "Tangled" is based on the story of Rapunzel and the 3D animation looks a-mazing!  This is supposedly hitting theaters at Thanksgiving, just in time for Aida's 1st birthday!  I will definitely be more excited to see it then her :)

Just ordered our Inglesina 2010 Fast Table Chair!  Three cheers for no bulky high chair cluttering up our house, plus pack-and-take-it anywhere flexibility.  At just $50, this thing was a total steal, and has been getting rave reviews from fellow moms.  I had a hard time finding it in-stock anywhere, so that's usually a good sign too.  I'm looking forward to having Aida sit at the table with us wherever we are....and avoiding the always-suspect restaurant high chairs.  I know she'll love the "big girl" perspective too :)

Favoite View...

Many thanks to my friend, Jane, for passing this gem along - a humorous take on girl convo/concerns done by guys.  Definitely quote-worthy.
