once upon a time a boy saw a girl.  he asked her to go get lime bars.  she said yes.  he was a viking and she was dutch.  but this didn’t stop them.  eventually they fell in love, got married, became the H’s, bought a house in the mountains and had a little dutch-viking hybrid.

then they decided that some sort of modern narritive of life in general [l.i.g], preferably in the digital format, may be in order.

(little dutch-viking hybrids tend to make these things necessary.)

so here is an attempt to capture l.i.g in all it’s wonderful, wild, blessed, busy, changing, challenging gusto.

Cincinnati Fall

Just got back from a wonderful 10-day trip to Cincinnati while Peter was elk hunting! It was full of family, friends, sickness and yummy food :)

Aida's first visit to Taylor University for Homecoming

Hanging out behind the west (best) side of Olson

The TU alumni of the fam (and Brother making a super mature face that clearly communicates that he will soon be a college graduate and actively seeking employment).

Senior picture (also resume worthy)

Linneous and Bella (my parents exchange student from China!)

Roomie (Jeane) and I in front of Grace Olson Hall, our former home :)

Someone got all tuckered out during a nice fall walk....and continued to sleep like that for 30+ minutes

Not too sure how she feels about the whole leaf pile thing....

...But Opa will make it all better :)

Silly girl

Alfalfa

TEETH!

We had a "faux birthday party" so Oma and Opa could celebrate with us too! Turning 11 months is a very big deal. Decorations courtesy of Bella. We dined on Aida favorites - homemade applesauce, mac and cheese, grilled chicken, and of course, cake!

We got to meet Bella's family all the way over in China and they were sweet enough to sing to Aida in Chinese!

Clearly someone is anxious to cut into the cake

I had been wanting to experiment with fondant to see if it was worth all the effort. It's not. But I do think my little ladybugs are pretty cute.

Happy girl munching on cake with Oma!

White Fang

Since it's been quite a while since I've posted a fam/AU (Aida Update. Obviously.), I thought we'd be super efficient and combine it with the pictures. I definitely feel like we are saying farewell to "Baby" Aida for "Big Girl" Aida...at least that's what she thinks :) Enjoy!

TCFS
We find her in the weirdest (read: impossibly uncomfortable) sleeping positions
Foodie. Pesto, lemon chicken with asparagus and feta, spinach and parm orzo, butternut squash bisque? Bring. it. on....
...in very large quantities.
I finally grew into my BabyLegs, yay! (Mommy is slightly obsessed)
Daddy entered the Demolition Derby at the state fair and I was the mascot for his car, The General Lee (Dukes of Hazard, anyone?)
Supporting the home team
The, ahem, "Big Show"
Aunite Jane came to visit - we LOVE her!
Rockin' her first pair of cowgirl boots from Great Uncle Jeff!
Early days of crawling - as indicated by the tongue-out concentration
Big girl is pulling up on everything! She especially loves the dishwasher...must remember the countless sink-fulls of dishes we did together in utero before we had one :)
Sawed-off pony walls are the perfect place to explore. She is doing more and more of that every day. And getting more comfortable being away from Mom. Sniff sniff.
Aida l.o.v.e.s our pets. Uncontrollable giggles abound whenever one comes over to "play". Thankfully both are very patient and gentle with her!
This picture is titled, "I like to play under the table and make the stink face when Mommy tells me 'No!'".
Took her to the park to get some 10 Month pictures in one of the super cute Tea (LOVE!) outfits my Coop-mates bought for her. I have been so excited for her to wear them and now they finally fit! Yay!
Still our sweet, happy girl....just with a little more attitude and a LOT more opinions!
That finger has had quite the workout - we cut FOUR upper teeth in the last 3 weeks! Oh, and conquered her first illness (temp of 103). Let's just say I'm glad that treat of a quad-fecta is over.
I think the blue eyes are here to stay, folks.
Busy busy, on the move
Loves to point at things and say "tss!"
I love watching her tiny, chubby fingers pick things up. She is so deliberate.
The good old Soothie is still with us. Sigh. So dorky looking, but she loves it.
White
Fang.
Her "vampire teeth" came in first, which has been slightly hilarious.
All dressed up for Erin and Jeremy's wedding and ready to show off her new dress
Our little goofball
Contemplating
Talking
Aaaaand, the signiture "Aida flap" to wrap things up :)
